Usually the reel needs to have a relief on it but if you can't see one then it might be time to explore that option but I would wait and see what happens with the new bedknife first. Also, you might want to hold on to the old bednknife and use it for scalping instead of using the new one. That's what I do, I'll slap an old one on there for scalping and then put the newer one back on and backlap it when I'm ready to cut real grass again.
