What shoes are you wearing when you mow?

At 59 years old, my feet just don’t seem to be as resilient as they used to be. I typically cut my 8000 sq/ft of Bermuda a couple of times a week during peak season.

My feet were killing me last summer. I like the idea of my old ankle high hiking boots, but apparently they don’t have enough support or whatever. By the time I’ve double cut, it’s close to 10,000 steps.

Anyone have some boots they love?

I am currently wearing some New Balance Fresh Foam X Hierro V7's for yard work as I enjoy the comfort and grip that I get from Trail running shoes. I know New Balance makes some mid cut trial shoes that may give you some more ankle support. But if you are looking for comfort that's the route I would go.

Crocs for all outdoor work, except spraying of course. I'd think supportive running shoes may be your best bet. Im my experience boots are more for stability and preventing ankle injuries than they are for cushion. Maybe stop by your local non-corporate local running shoe store and ask for advice? (as they likely have more informed employees) Or those cushy insole inserts? if those are effective or not. Ive always heard Hokas are among the kings of running shoes, but like 80-120$ i believe.

People who are mowing barefoot or in sandals must have very flat yards. In places where I mower parallel along a slope, I cannot even wear slip-on sneakers without having my feet shift around too much, so I always wear sneakers with laces now.

Also, I apply sprays while wearing a cheap pair of rubber boots that go up mid-shin. Seems like you'd be taking a big risk taking a chemical bath while working on your lawn....

Well the thread is what shoes do you wear when you mow... Not what do you wear while you spray.

I feel your pain, I deal with all kind of foot problems. The best shoes for me I have found are shoes with a wide-toe box.
Altra makes a hiking shoe that is amazing. I typically replace them every 6 months or when my feet tell me it's time.

I also buy random cheap shoes on Amazon that have wide toe boxes that I will wear for a few months until my feet tell me it's time.

I used to use my retired running shoes, but I no longer do that as I usually retire my shoes after 6 months because I start getting foot pain.
