I don't know if this exists or if I am just using the wrong search terms when googling. I want to use an Eley hose on a retractable reel, but can't find a reel without a hose so that I can use my own.

Eley is thicker than the average hose that I've purchased, and curious if anyone has tried loading it in place of an existing one on a retractable reel.

I don't know what length of hose you need exactly but you will want to check out Cox Reels and Reel Craft, you might have to call to get specifically what you want but I'm pretty sure they make them but they are pricey $$$$. I found some here at Global Industrial

Wow. No kidding about the prices! Reel Craft actually looks like a great option. I've emailed both to see if they can help. Honestly, considering I'm not moving from my house and not getting any younger, I may just pay the dang price and call it a day. Buy once cry once. (I might actually cry a few times on this one...)

Alternatively, I could ship the eley hose reel to @MasterMech . Maybe he can motorize it for less than $1500! 😅

Thanks for the info.

I bought 2 avaguard retractable reels from northern tool this year and they are great. You could swap out the hoseses on them if you want and increase the spring tension. Also have the heavier duty version from northern I think its barringer (its orange) that thing is a beast and could easily handle any hose you want. Ive never understood the infatuation with the eley reels personally as they are not retractable

Let’s see, the Avagard reel can only hold 50ft of 5/8”, whereas the Eley can hold 125ft of 5/8”. The Eley can come with an outdoor foot/platform or mobile option with wheels. You’d be out another $250 to have someone build you something comparable, as most homeowners don’t have access to the tools and skills to be able to mount the Northern Tool reels in a similar way. Northern tool reels have a 2 year warranty vs 10 from Eley.
So, yeah… there’s a lot of reasons why people like their Eley and why it can be more practical for homeowners.
