New member here. Looking to start over on my lawn.

received a quote from a reputable company in my area (metro Atlanta). I initially asked them for tiftuf but they’ve suggested Northbridge. My yard gets plenty of sun and almost zero shade throughout the day.

i was planning to install irrigation before soding but with my budget. I may need to hold off.

any thoughts on Northbridge? Or should i insist i want tiftuf. End goal is to mow 2-3x per week. Hoc .5-.75.

any feedback would be great. Thanks

Don’t know a ton about Northbridge. Looks like they use it at Arrowhead 🤷🏼‍♂️

What’s your budget like? How much square footage are we talking?

Sod is obviously instant-lawn, but would sprigging be an option for you? You could drop money into irrigation and still be able to get a new lawn.

Roughly 3000SQFT. Got quoted 6500 for Bermuda and about 7 for zoysia.

Irrigation quote was 2500. for 2 zones 9 heads.

i have always been into mowing my lawn. It’s mostly been weeds with some good patches here and there. Finally, I’d like to get some good grass and move over to reel mowing next spring. I currently mow 2-3x. Which sounds ridiculous as I’m mowing weeds 😂😂

A lot as in too many heads or price?
The price seems high to me, the heads might be right depending on the design. I would at least get 3 quotes if you haven't already.

That's because Northbridge is a little older so it was in the 2008-2012 Bermuda tests. It wasn't tested in the 2020-2023 trials so if you were just looking at that list then no you won't find Northbridge. Both are high quality. Northbridge has really good cold tolerance but probably not important to you in Atalanta.
That makes sense, I wish NTEP had a database instead of having to wade through different reports. I am seriously leaning towards TifGrand personally but haven't been able to find it anywhere in the NTEP trials. I really like its shade tolerance and I have a few shaded areas that it might survive where other types would fail.

It appears Tifgrand was known as "Tift No. 4" in the NTEP Trials 2003-2006.

If you plan on reel mowing I would go with the TifGrand otherwise go with the TifTuff. I've heard of Northbridge but I'm not aware of anyone that has it or has even experienced it here on TLF. I would go look at both of them at the sod farm if possible as there might be an advantage of going with NB.
