Corn gluten meal. Is it too late to apply

I wanted to get corn gluten meal a shot. Dandelion seeds began appearing about five days ago here. I managed to get most of the seeds until today. It seems in lawns all over my neighbourhood there is been a sudden seed explosion.

is it too late to apply? I'm asking because as a pre-emergent, doesn't need to be down before the seeds fall or other words is a barrier created? Or is a barrier created for other types of pre-emergence only. I'm actually not even sure what characteristics of the corn gluten meal works.

please keep in mind, I live in Ontario and our options here are limited.
Thanks

Chances are corn gluten meal is going to do very little as a weed preventer. Whether you apply early or now. It's pre emergent properties aren't great.
to clarify I am only looking at it for dandelion Prevention. nothing else.

Do you mean that invite help but only to a very limited degree? corn gluten meal ismarketed to prevent dandelions and crabgrass. those of the only two weeds that are marketed

given that I'm only looking for dandelion, will still work or also still limited. If it would work by my too late?

You're right, options are limited in Ontario. But that doesn't mean there aren't options available in the US.

Dimension 2EW is a preM that I know is labelled for dandelions. Prodiamine will not prevent germination.
yeah hearts. I want to try to avoid the other option,Imports for the moment if at all possible. Is Pro diamine the active ingredients in corn gluten meal? I find it puzzling why corn gluten meal is marketed here if it doesn't work.Even if it's not the best choice and has some degree of success, I would like to try it To my peril.lol.

I wish there were some way that the success rate was quantified by a university/ college extension

A few years back when i was trying an organic program, I read and I think i downloaded a study on corn gluten from either Purdue or maybe Iowa. I am on a business trip once home i will try to find it.

Main point: you might get some pre-emergent effect from using a very large amount of corn gluten meal. Way too much cost per 1k for very little effect. But it does make a very good slow release fertilizer just as @M32075 stated above.
