Need some input please. We live in Perdido Key FL and about to break ground on a new house and house basically sits about 100' from the water. After doing a bit of reading and before I was pointed to this forum I narrowed my choices down to El Toro or Empire Zoysia. I will have the soil tested and truck in 4 do 5" of good topsoil since the area in general has extremely sandy soil.
I checked with the local Univ of FL Extension and they told me the El Toro is a bit more shade resistant and has a higher salt tolerance. The lawn will definitely be subjected to salt spray and there will be shady areas for sure. Lot is about 1/3rd of an acre and we will need about 20 pallets or so. Just looking for advice before we spend and don't want to make a $15K mistake.
Thanks
