Your choice for best Bentgrass in the north?

I've been working at building a backyard golf course and finally making progress on it. I just finished the subgrade drainage and have the gravel layer done on one of the two greens. Irrigation will take a couple weeks but then I'll be into rootzone mix and finally bentgrass seeding hopefully before the season is too late.

I have a bent list from my seed supplier and it's a mile long. I've been reading up on each of them and will be targeting a newer variety like the super bents. Honestly, the cost between the worst and the most expensive on that list isn't bad so id go with one of the better ones for all of the work ive put in. As I go through these one by one, I figured I'd ask anyone here who probably has more experience than I do, if one of the newer bents has been standing out.

I'm up pretty north, eastern ontario if that changes anyone mind of a cultivar.

Here's the property and what I'm into and thanks for any help:

007XL, 777, or a blend. The most impressive stand of bent I've ever seen was 007XL and that's not even factoring in the other benefits it supposedly possesses. You have only one green and living where you do I'd definitely sheet it going into winter. The difference come spring will be night and day.

Nice build you got going look forward to seeing a lot more updates. No SubAir? 😂

The wife cancelled the SubAir contract.

I went with 007xl. Pretty much the best I can get my hands on and after talking to the rep he said it's always evolving and anything I put down this year will be obsolete or passed in 5-10 years which makes sense when you see some names on that list. He figures in 30 years they'll have the prefect bentgrass developed, so if I'm not dead I'll Round-Up the 007xl and plant whatever that stuff will be.

Thanks for replies, looking forward to learning how to grow this stuff.

I gotta say bro. Props for seeding this late. My fingers are crossed for you. I seed bent in the spring from past experience but ya I'm pulling for you. I have 50lb of XL I'll seed in the spring. Whatever you do, keep us updated. Bent is the pinnacle of turf and it's surprisingly more manageable than people think. In my opinion, if your fungicide game is strong bent > PRG. It being more tolerant to heat/drought than PRG makes up for what it lacks in resistance—and even that is negligible. But of course, you gotta be flat flat to make it work. I can even notice a difference in my 80/20 sub vs my 100% sand stands.
