What part of the country do you reside in?

 

I am in Tennessee. This grass is in my backyard getting partial sun.

 

Dwarf mondo grass?

 

That's what I thought, too.

 

I have actually been thinking about a dwarf mondo grass lawn..... I might actually need to do that in shade areas

 

It is strange that i have it in the middle of my back yard in about 100 sq space and the rest of the yard is just weed. I wonder if i should add patches of mondo in the different spot gradully or i should just use a new grass. What you recommend for 15000 Sq in TN. It gets partial sun and meduim food traffic as children play.

 

I don't know that mondo grass would be a great option if kids are going to play on it since it grows in "clumps" (sort of like nutsedge), which probably wouldn't be great underfoot. Also, I'm also not sure how it would perform under foot traffic. Based on what I have seen, it's more used in landscaping in lieu of mulch where it can fill out on its own.
