Literally in the span of 2 or 3 days, I went from this:

to this:

I have been mowing it lower than I will for summer (2.5") because I overseeded the area, and it was standing up fine previously.

.The only thing I can think is that a family of deer (we have a whole herd of them in the neighborhood) or something decided to sleep on the grass overnight during/after a rainstorm (which we've had), but it doesn't seem to have been hot enough to really cause fungal issues here? (NC/Piedmont/7B)

I went ahead and did an application of Clearys 336F (worked last year on some fungal stuff) as a preventative/treat whatever's there, will rotate in axozy/other stuff.. tried to use the leafblower to stand the grass up/get some air in there, but not sure how effective that is. We're also getting almost an inch of rain today, which means things probably won't dry out for another 2-3 days..

This happened in the same area as last year, it's definitely a more shady area -- but it just looks like some of the grass is yellowing and dying off. See this pic:

Could it be all of the new stuff from my overseed this spring? It's not happening everywhere..

@uncken I have something very similar in my TTTF yard here in SE VA. I hit mine with separate rounds of neem oil and propiconazole and it looks like it may be recovering a bit (been 8 days since last app). I am really interested in following your experience as well. Let's hope for some sunshine and a good breeze for a few days to dry this stuff out!

Heavy fall over seed, wet shady area that not drying out, high humidity and a herd of deer laying over there is definitely a problem area for fungal issues. Keep the grass short to help it dry out stay on top of your fungicide applications. You might want to thin the trees out to get some sunshine in the area or make a bed area there with some hosta plants that love shade and forget growing grass there
