Hello, friends...

I am going to be spraying my lawn with Tenacity. I have a LOT of various kinds of weeds that I know it'll take care of. My bigger concern is what my procedure should be for planting grass seed after using the Tenacity. I covet your sage advice!

Have a great day!

Always read the label for any products you apply. It will tell you what weeds will be controlled. Multiple apps may be required. A surfactant is to be used for post emergent weed control.

For general weed control, other herbicides may be a better option for both performance and price. Most herbicides call for a 2 week period before seeding.

Tenacity can be used as at the time of seeding without a surfactant as a pre-emergent herbicide. This reduces the amount of weeds that germinate along with your new seedlings.

what weeds are you trying to kill? Any reason you chose tenacity for the task?

seeding this time of year can be tough. There’s only a few weeks left for ideal cool season grasses to thrive. Then the summer heat kicks in, soil temps climb, and summer weeds flourish. When do you plan to seed, late spring or fall?

I have some blue dye and a surfactant for the Tenacity as per some YouTube videos I watched. I didn't see the cost of Tenacity being an issue, to be honest. It's very concentrated, so I'll get multiple uses out of the one bottle that I have.

As for the weeds I am dealing with, I have crabgrass, creeping charlie, clover, wild violets, nutsedge (I think), and three or four others that I have yet to identify. I had dandelions last year, but I crawled on my hands and knees over the entire 50,000 sq. ft. and pulled every last one of them, roots and all, with a dandelion removal tool. My wife laughed at me crawling around the entire lawn, but this year I had less than a dozen dandelions in my entire yard, and they got pulled immediately as well.

As for when I plan to seed, it'll be fall at this point. We are getting into the heat of summer here on a regular basis, so I'll wait. I wonder if can put down the Tenacity now and just do the seeding in the fall. However, I'm thinking that if I put down Tenacity now, it'll really do a number on my yard as the weeds die, but I won't have seeds down to try to thicken everything up to keep the weeds from growing back. Would it be wise to just put down Tenacity in the fall in conjunction with overseeding? I guess that makes more sense.
