Does anyone use pex or pinch type clamps instead of screw type automotive clamps for hose end repair?

I've got one hose that's got a replacement end and it's rough on the hand and wrist. Is it possible to use something a smoother and a bit more professional looking?

You might find them described as some combination of pinch/oetiker clamp, pliers/tool. Locally, you can get a basic tool for under 20 bucks, or a ratcheting one for considerably more, but much it's easier to compress.

If you have Amazon prime, this ratcheting one is a good value https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LWR4T6Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_HKWMF98JBSH1BA5YP7AN?psc=1

I keep this tool and some 0.041 safety wire handy. It turns the wire into a clamp capable of withstanding rather high pressures. Where shop installed crimped ferules, screw clamps, and even the Oetiker clamps have failed to hold, the wire tensioned with a Clamptite has held over 500 PSI pressure.

Good tip!

Here is what I use. The clamps and barbed fittings are in the area of underground sprinkler pipes at the box stores (that's what they are made for). The Pex stuff is way too pricey to use on a hose. The 3/4" size (a bit over 1" ID before crimp) works perfect on my 3/4" hoses. I haven't tried their smaller sizes. Two clamps is overkill, but they are cheap enough so I use two on anything that gets yanked around the yard. I've never had one fail.

Best part was I already had the tool...it's the same tool as I have used in the past for replacing CV joint boots on cars. They are dirt cheap compared to the Pex tools.

It leaves a small nub of metal but it's not sharp and doesn't catch on the grass. You can squeeze it down some more, or cover with self-mending repair tape if you want a cleaner feel/look.
