My lawn took a turn for the worse about 2 weeks ago. It started looking stressed in one isolated area after the kids had a play date and beat up the lawn. It now has spread across a lot of my backyard in large swaths of dead or diseased? areas.
I had been proactively applying preventative rates of DiseaseEx and Propi each month since April/May, as I had similar behavior last summer to the lawn.
The weather has been pretty wild going from 70s to 90s quickly, and we have been hit with some high temps the last week or so. I had increased my deep watering 3x a week to keep-up with the heat, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have not applied any fert in over a month, and the grass tips are brown from me mowing last week when it was probably too warm still in the evening. Not my best idea!
Close inspection I don't really see much for lesions or anything on the blades, just brown grass, and some of the areas have a 'grayish hue' to them closeup. Also feels crunchy when walked on
I am thinking its drought stress, but I am really not sure. Front yard is on the same regimen, and is dark green and healthy. Any help would be much appreciated. Last image is normal looking area in the backyard.
