Stihl - Repairing trimmer head and bed definer head

So I got some used and thoroughly abused equipment with a landscaping business - and two of the pieces have broken already.

One of them is the string trimmer head - it doesn't spin, and makes a grinding noise. My gut tells me the gear is broke, but I'd like to disassemble it, clean it, and examine. They have the AutoCut EasySpool on it. Worst case scenario, I want to take that off and put it on the new shaft.

The other one is the bed definer tool. It too started making a grinding noise and not spinning, but I believe this is my fault. I opened the grease fitting and added Maruyama grease to it, since I figured it had never been greased. It's possible its a coincidence, but it seems awfully "Coincidental" to my working on it. This one, too, I'd like to disassemble and try and regrease or replace the bearings.

I don't know how to disassemble either. Anybody smart that can help me?

On the trimmer head, once you remove it from the trimmer shaft there should be an internal snap ring holding both the input and output shafts in the head. Remove the snap rings and then the input shaft first, then the output shaft. Reassembly is output shaft first, then input shaft.

With grinding noise and no spinning I suspect the gears are trashed and probably the bearings too. I have no clue on the bed definer.

Update: I got the trimmer head off of the gearbox so we can use that, and tossed the rest. I am guessing I should own snap ring pliers. It's like $69 for a set of gears and $89 for a whole new string trimmer attachment, so I didn't really see the value in fixing this one myself.
