Don’t use seed. Sprigging is much better. You will thank yourself in the long run I promise. Look at journals from myself, @Chadwicktr @clbphllps @WillyT @RayFinkle @BeCeee @Foot Flyer @Lawn Vol @ScubaSteve51 there are getting to be too many sprig journals to remember them all.

 

Skip seeds. I've done seeds. Sod plugs are the best, sprigs comes in 2nd.

I’m not into common bermuda (seed), so I’d either sprig (15 rolls would be $150 here) or sod it ($450 here, materials only).

 

I will echo not doing seed. 750sf is less than two pallets of sod. I recommend just sodding it and having an instant yard.

 

Yep I’m convinced that’s the best route. Is this the best route to take?


1. Remove existing Lawn with sod cutter
2. Use a couple apps of glyphosate to kill weeds and growth
3. Add a couple inches of topsoil/sand to fill low areas and level yard overall
4. Use a tamp to compact new topsoil/sand
5. Apply a pre emergent
6. Install new sod - most likely Bermuda

 

I’d sod it. Just my two cents. Sprigging is going to require you to buy a pallet (some places will sell by the piece or half pallet, but it’ll be job leftovers), so you might as well buy two and have a thriving lawn instantly. An investment in less work too. Keep us posted! Good luck!!

 

750 square feet? I'm over here taking care of 522,000 square feet of bermudagrass trying to visualize 750 in my mind! 2 pallets of sod and have a beer man! BTW, geaux Tigers!

Skip the pre-emergent. The pre-emergent could hamper your sod taking root.
