Any fellow North Alabama folks sourced sod lately? I posted a couple of moths ago looking for recommendations on sod at our new build. Have been happy with the Celebration I have, but thought I'd see if anything new was out there.

Well, started looking this week (since we're moving in next week and I'd like to tackle sod sometime here in August to give it time to root before we cool down here. And seems my choices are pretty limited if I want something besides Tif419. The sod farm I got my Celebration from (in Birmingham) looks like they no longer cell Celebration.

Any advice? Afraid I'm going to have to "settle" for Tif 419, though I'd really prefer to do something more exciting for a brand new yard. Anyone in north Alabama gone through this lately? How about plugging? Would that be a legit option (looking to do about 5k square feet total)?

Thanks, @HungrySoutherner. Called both places. Coosa was actually really reasonable for delivery ($1900 for 6k square feet of TifTuf + $300 delivery). NG Turf was the same per pallet, but delivery was significantly higher ($3300 total for 12 pallets).

I see you have TifGrand. How do you like it? NG Turf is out of TifGrand for the fall but I might be tempted to wait until the spring and throw down some annual rye or something for the fall at the new house.

@HungrySoutherner You're tempting me to wait until the spring. Guess I could just throw down some annual rye to try to get some sort of coverage until the spring. Don't really want a dirt yard all fall and winter.

How many pallets of TifGrand are you planning on getting? Not sure when you plan on doing your reno, but if it's in the spring and I decide to go with TifGrand, maybe we could combine our order to save on shipping (not sure how many pallets you need)? Thinking out loud.

So I went ahead and pulled the trigger on some Celebration. Just not sure I want a red clay yard year round (and I've been very happy with the Celebration I currently have). Found it at Craft Turf Farms out of Foley, AL. Freight was (obviously) a little steep ($1200), but about what was expected (for reference, when I got my Celebration 4.5 years ago, I rented a UHaul and drove to Birmingham and loaded up, so that was ~$500 all in on the truck costs). Pallets were a (what I thought was) very reasonable $106, so went ahead and got 14.

On the schedule for 2 weeks from now. Going to have to go hard for the next two weeks to get moved in, to final site prep (it's been graded, so really just need to do some fine tuning). Hopefully I can get it more level than my current yard.
