Small tree leaves

I have some sort of Southern Oak and a Winged Elm on my front yard and the leaves are impossible to rake. The grass, Floratam, is thinning because of this and maybe the shade.

I tried a leaf vacuum which gets the dry leaves, but it seems like the one down by and under the stolons is always damp.

Is there any way to get these leaves up and out so the grass can spread better or is it just the shade and the Floratam.

Are you cutting with a reel mower that you can’t use a rotary to suck up all the leaves and mulch?

I’d also question why your trees are dropping enough leaves this time of year too..not normal.

The leaves have just been accumulating and do not seem to break down easily.

The Winged Elm sheds all its leaves in the fall and the Live oak sheds all its leaves in February-March.

St Augustine grass cut at 4", during the winter I can go down to 2.5 but the leaves are under the stolon.

I have 2 live oaks and the only solution I’ve found is just mowing them up and using a blower. A good blower makes things go quicker.

Make sure you're using a gas blower. 😉

You really just have to maintain before it gets out of hand…. Not the answer you were wanting I’m sure. Mulch them up with several passes with a mower going slow.
