I'm overseeding tomorrow after weeks of prep and the rental place by my house has a new slice (?) seeder that I can rent if I'd like. It's not one that you push and I have a slope to my yard, so it sounds appealing. However, I've never used one before.
Has anyone had any good experiences with these?

A power rake is easier to handle in smaller areas and is usually cheaper to rent. The difference is just the blades. Slicers have a round disc that is wavy to cut lines amd drop seed where a power rake has flail blades which are hinged on the bar. You get similar results seeding with spreader after power raking. I prefer it because it loosens soil better and pulverizes some top dirt for a better seed bed.

Side note, I renovated my lawn over the Labor day weekend. Used a Dethatcher to prep the dead grass. It kept turning off on a hill I have, not too steep. Apparently there's a safety shutoff switch so the engine doesn't go "dry" from oil on a hill. If I ran the machine going the other way it worked for the most part (guess the sensor was on one side of the engine).

Ask before you rent.

I decided to forgo the seeder and did it manually last night, spreading the seed, raking it in, and covering it with peat moss.
Then, overnight, and this morning, the heavens opened to a deluge of downpours that I haven't seen in years :(
I'm just getting home from work and haven't looked at things, but if things got washed out, just do it again??
