I think it's more intended to be used as a scalping mower like those that they have in Australia. I've been very interested in it ever since I saw it announced bc I would love to be able to use it for scalping to keep the wear and tear off the reel.

 

This is why I purchased one. I've wanted one of these utility mowers for some time, and even tried to import one from Australia. However, the import red tape for small engines meant no dealer was willing to ship one to me. The ads for this one say you can attach the scarifying blades to get down to dirt, but a true .4in scalp height will likely be ideal for me. These mowers can plow through just about anything, and will make scalping so much easier. Can't wait for it to be delivered in mid August to try it out.

 

Tested one at the Rolux North American opening in Kennesaw, Ga..that monster got down to the dirt and never missed a beat..very impressive for scalping. Hard shell bagger easy to empty as well.
They are planning on having additional blades for scarifying/dethatching.

 

Is it optimized for scalping? I've seen in videos that it can. Is it not strong as a year round daily driver? As essentially an improved rotary design?
