Just saw this post from Reel Rollers on IG. New 26” Reel Mower they are launching for sale on Labor Day.
Send me one!We will be launching The Revolution 26 in September which is a mower we’ve been designing in partnership with Masport. Although the foundation of our mower was built on the Olympic 660, we have made some incredible advancements to meet the needs of our USA market. We made 12 changes to the stock Masport mower we started with as the foundation.
-foam grips
-folding handlebars
-independent drive and reel control
-height of cut sticker
-rubber tread on rear drum
-paint scheme
-plastic gras catcher not metal so it doesn’t rust or dent
-relief ground reel from factory
-grooved front roller with weight
-Honda GX160 engine
-factory pivot points for shops to give an precise grind
-QR code on mower which leads to how to page and parts
-owners manual and service manual for shops
-3 features we have not released yet
Plus, the mower is all chain driven, backlaps with just a 1/2” socket without removing chains, and a reel to bedknife adjustment with the ease of just turning 2 bolts (no retainers to loosen and tighten like all other mowers).
its important to recognize this is a residential reel mower, but is built for commercial use at a MSRP of $2799, but we will have a preorder sale of $2299.
Hmmm, no electric option?
In the Ron Henry video announcement, it was mentioned both cartridges and battery powered will be coming in a couple more years. I really, really want to buy the initial version but cannot justify it as my real need is a mower with the verticutter cartridge. I don’t care for the battery system as my lawn is too big to worry about running numerous batterie. Gas powered will be best for my application.I'll wait for version 2. Hopefully, they'll have a battery version with an interchangeable cartridges that can be mailed.
Same -- Jersey boys are smart! My advice is wait til the bugs are worked out before pulling trigger.
I have an Allett Kensington 20H. How would you compare the Revolution 26 with it? I have a 2,200 front lawn I cut with it. Northern Illinois. 1" KBG. Thinking of selling the Kensington and opting for the Revolution.Tested the revolution today with Isaac at reel rollers. I’m currently using a John Deere 260b and had a Allett Kensington before that as my introduction to reel mowing. I say all that for context.
First of all if anyone is close, definitly contact RR to visit their place and check the machine out. It’s built like a tank but also I very sprightly in the way in handles compared to the 260. Throttle is responsive and with the handle control you can feather it as you like. Demo unit engages reel with the throttle, but production unit will have independent reel clutch control on the left side of the handle bar. Front roller on the demo wasn’t the exact one that will come on the production unit, but was still nice and robust. (Production roller is much heavier and grooved). Rear drum was what I was very interested in. I’ve never used anything but a smooth drum. It climbed the hill at the turf park very easily, and turned nicely. With the split design, No grass was damaged. All in all a fantastic machine, and I’m pretty confident in trading in the 260 for this machine and the fact that it will suit my needs perfectly. Looking forward to seeing more as we get closer.
5/8 and up will be just fine with 6 blades. It really is not all about blades its about clip rateA six blade reel for a 0.25"-1.5" height of cut range seems to be targeting those mowing at or near 1.5".
