Crabgrass is vicious at my house in NC and If I didn't follow greendocs herbicide recommendations for zoysia seeding id be in trouble. Nonetheless its looking like il have about 70% zenith coverage with very few weeds by the end of the season, 15k square feet. Should i do a fall and spright pre emergent if i still need about 30% of my lawn to fill in, and which product would be the best?

Also, I have an orchard with a white clover ground cover, is there a pre emergent that would work to keep crabgrass tame around my fruit trees and keep the clover? The crabgrass is insane.

Thank you guys, I’ll keep the train rolling, smelly is better than crabgrass. Landscapers in my area told me I was nuts to try and seed zoysia, but it’s filling in fast and dang near weed free. Im doing 10-10-10 in steady doses and, Celcius + quinclorac + and certainly cleared house after my 4th mow with very little impact to my grass. I have hard nasty clay that’s been a bigger to improve. I wanted to do a cool season grass but I get 10+ hours of sun, and it gets roasted.

I live in the Atlanta area and this fine looking grass always pops up in early spring in my zeon zoysia. I can't think of the name it is called but it looks like fescue. It seems to get burned out during the heat. I have had pretty good luck working with Tony at C.A.L Landscaping here in Atlanta, Ga. 770-891-2245. I just have not had time or the patience of dealing with it anymore. They resodded my yard and maintained it, very reliable and trustworthy.

Sedges in early spring? Got a pic? I am zone 7 and sedges don’t pop their heads up until we stay above 70ish right after Bermuda greenup around May. They tend to like warm weather is why I ask. Right now and for the next few months I am fighting poa annua and poa triv that broke through the pre ems. Prior to green up of desired turf and would last until around June if nothing was done to it. Just curious.

Since you have zoysia if it is what I think it is, Poa, Certainty or Negate will be your best affordable options as a homeowner. Certainty is the best option out of those two due to Negate being sold in a per Acre bottle. It Negates is a little cheaper per the sq ft and imo works a bit better but you literally have to have what we call a “drug scale” to measure out the amount you would need. 0.10 oz per 1000 sq ft. Certainty comes with an easy to use scoop for smaller amounts down to one gallon mix that will blanket treat or spot spray 1000 sq ft. So I’d go with the C. Note that either will take dang near a month to work after spraying it. But it will work. Just give it time to do its thing and be patient. Good luck.
