I was on the phone with my parents the today and my dad mentioned they have powdery mildew all over there yard and he wanted to know how to treat it. My go to is spreading some scotts disease ex and a liquid propiconazole but i don't actually know how effective this would be. Also they're in the very northern part of MN and its going to start getting cold soon. Could they just wait it out for next spring or would it come back?

That looks like melting out. It's definitely not powdery mildew.
With the mild temperatures we have and no 'slimy' feel at touch plus no signs of cotton looking mycelium, that may fit the bill best so far. I've sprayed some propi at 2oz/M In this area, 15-20 feet out. Rain watered it in. Some azoxy is on its way. It is not a waste, because I wanted to do an app late November anyway for snowmold, that wiped off specific sections of my 'old' lawn this spring. I was thinking it is salt damage, but that got written off due to the fact some of the affected areas have never seen salt (away from the street).
