Good question! I've been wondering the same. Lowes offers a line of Lesco fertilizers. (I think 4 currently) but do not offer the product label. Looking up in the Lesco database did not show any of them listed, either. If anyone has the bags for these products, can you also post a photo showing the guarantted analysis section? Thanks!

How much did you pay per bag?

 

Dimension is a pre-emergent so I would not use this as a source of N this time of year. There is an annual limit on the amount of pre-em to use, which are usually split into 2 separate applications (fall and spring).

 

I bought this product as my first pre emergent last year.

The only draw back to this product is it's too much N for my liking in early spring. If I time out my soil temps it ends up being too strong of a N boost out the gate in early march.

I figured i wouldn't end up using it again until I realized it works better for me in the fall. The added N works well for my last fertilizer application of the season. You could use prodiamine as your first application, then possibly use the 30-0-5 as your second application 7-8 weeks later.

As far the dimension, I did notice some grassy weeds in my first year but i attribute it to missing my pre emergent window. I noticed better pre emergent effects from prodiamine but I think it's because I was better about timing it during my second year

I will continue using straight granular prodiamine as my first application in the spring, and using dimension as my second application or fall application.

Either way if you got it on sale, huge win and use it !

I'd be hesitant to put down that much N with that little pre-M/K in the late fall. You typically don't want to push going into dormancy. Lesco regular 30-0-10 is my summer fertilizer. By the time I would want to put down a spring or fall pre-M, I wouldn't want that much Nitrogen.

If you're only dealing with $1K ftsq like your bio says, you will come out MUCH cheaper in the long run going liquid Pre-Ms. If you're stubborn like me and want to stick with granular fert apps, that's fine, but I wouldn't combine them in my area.

I have a bag of the same. Was thinking of using it mid August for a late N push and to prevent the winter weeds and poa.

 

Worthless product IMO. You don't want that much nitrogen at any point for a warm season grass when you'd be putting down your pre-emergent.

If you've already used Specticle, then this stuff is going to be a huge step backward.

I'm confused, why is it bad to push N with pre emergent? Is it because the grass isn't actively growing at the stArt of the spring season or something else? I use it as my fall application since it's still actively growing through October.

Pushing that much N isn't ideal going into the fall. You want to bolster up the P and K if needed going into the cooler weather. Spring application of it is again too much N, unless you are prone to missing the window for warm season grasses. It works great for the average big box store. They are the spring weeds start up, or see the the fall/winter weeds still hanging around, apply it in April and may, and get this boost of growth and green and love it.

I cut my tiftuf all the way to thanksgiving generally and I don't apply any fertilizer after the end of sept unless it's higher in my micros and out down something with lots of K to help over winter it. I'm not pushing growth, im tired of mowing by that time.

Any recommendations for a good K product to apply later on? Liquid or granular

I also bought 5 of these too! I can't help the big on sale sign. I got this product for 19$ is it any good or should I return it!

Why would you bother with it again, if it didn’t work?
You’ve got a subpar product, so why waste the time and also the proposed application limits.

 

@jonny5 I would avoid weed-n-feeds as they neither weed nor feed efficiently.

 

This is pre-emergent and feed, not a weed killer. Does that make a difference?

 

I use this. Works fine. I spray prodiamine in the spring. Use this in the fall for hairy bittercress, since prodiamine does not control it. This product has dithiopyr. Get a fall fertilizer app and pre-emergent all in one. 0.8LB/1000 N.

 

Lesco has a 0-0-7 with Stonewall (Prodimaine) they label as crabgrass preventer.

I guess the pertinent questions are what are you trying to prevent? Also how much duration are you looking for and number of apps? You don’t want to run out of control by only applying one product or applying too early.

Granular is really for those who don’t have a means of applying liquids. It is way more expensive for the amount of AI. Also it throws that stuff where you really don’t want it.

Prodiamine and Pendimethalin will both control Poa and a few other weeds. Dithiopyr does cover the same weeds but a few more. None do much broadleaf control. For that you need Isoxaben.

Post what turf you have, how big of a lawn you have, we know you are in the Dallas area, what weeds you are battling, and how much effort and money you are willing to invest.

 

Didnt know if you were aimed at me, but just FYi this is an old thread. It just comes up when searching for this particular mix and I happened to have the bag that someone was asking for a pic. For myself, im in north florida, and just doing broad weed stoppage and crabgrass. Youre right that it didnt seem to prevent much in the way of broadlead weeds, but it could also be my fault in applying. I dont have a backpack sprayer yet. I have Bermuda. Im going to give it another try with a more complete split app in spring and then consider alternatives after.

 

For a long time I just mowed the lawn, then I wanted to make it look really nice. I learned either you in or not, there seems to be no 1/2 way. So get a backpack sprayer and some liquid pre and post, some fungicide, and some insecticide and have an at home hobby. Everybody thinks you’re crazy, but who cares what everybody thinks

 

This product is awesome! I’ve used it for years and it works great for crab grass! Timing is everything and don’t worry about the N if you have water. I’m trying to find where I can buy it . Our lowes doesn’t sell it anymore. I don’t understand that it works great so they quit selling it😵‍💫
