Katana, Tribute Total, Or Revolver for Poa

Does anyone have experience using any of these 3 for treating Poa Annua? I'm having some breakthrough in the backyard this year. I also have simazine on hand but I want to make sure I knock it out in one go if possible.

Katana seems to be the most affordable option. I don't want to use negate because I would have a lot leftover that I didn't use and would rather keep some in case I get any more poa popping up next year. The poa is fairly immature and hasn't gone to seed yet, fortunately. I want to knock it out before it becomes a problem.

i've used all 4 products on poa, i've found the monument and tribute get the best control, followed closely by the katana, revolver was by far the worst. i like katana because it also does a great job at controlling sedge and kylinga as well so its a two piece product for your weed arsenal.
This helps a lot. I'm definitely leaning more toward katana even though I have sedgehammer in my arsenal and it does a great job.

Isn't Certainty labeled for Poa? I just bought some for my Zoysia. Waiting for the rain to pass to put it down Sunday.
I think it is labeled for poa but from my research it looks like it takes a lot longer to get a full kill and sometimes needs more than one application.

I used Katana last year after not spraying any pre-emergent in the fall or spring. It worked really well.

I can't speak for Revolver or Tribute as I have never used those.
Awesome! How long did it take to get a full kill?

Before your spray post em, what did you apply for pre em? I ask because the poa needs to be DEAD.
I used specticle flo only and did two split apps. I had a poa invasion last year where I'm having trouble this year so I think it may take a couple seasons before I can fully eradicate the issue. I sprayed simazine on it when it started to germinate but we've had a lot of rain and the backyard floods pretty bad so I think it has something to do with it not working as well as I would've hoped.

Certainty does kill Poa A. Can take a second app on mature plants. Takes about 4-5 weeks but I have always been successful using on my Zoysia lawn.
I really wanted a one and done product and for the price I think certainty wouldn't work well for me in this case unfortunately.

You shouldn't have had any poa with a good app of specticle and simazine.

Katana, revolver, or monument and then simazine would be my vote. I would add N to the tank mix and NIS. Tribute isn't any better that I'm aware of than the first three, but i recall it being more costly.
Yeah I was surprised as well. But this is my first year tackling this yard on my own and last winter/spring there was an infestation of poa everywhere. The worst spots are on a steep hill thats compacted dirt where the bermuda has a hard time growing and the other spots where it came through are low spots where it doesn't drain well. I'm thinking the rain may have washed away some of the pre M. The front yard has had no poa whatsoever.

I'm also wondering if applying simazine this late is going to cause issues with it coming out of dormancy since it's already starting to green up.

I had bad coverage with granular preEM and gave way to poa pretty much my entire backyard. This year I put down what you did as well with the addition of prodiamine in there. Absolutely no weed. I also have a swale running from my back neighbors to my front curb and it didn't wash away any.

Anywho, simazine probably won't do any good on the tillered poa since you already have green-up and it has been studied to slow green-up of grass in spring. The latest I would apply it is late winter (ie: mid to late Febuary or before the last frost). For now, I would kill it off with any of the post chemicals posted above like Certainty or Katana.

I made sure I got good coverage and did two split apps of liquid specticle (Sept and November) but that was the only product I applied. I guess I'll just have to use the katana now and hope for the best next year with the Simazine, Specticle, Prodiamine combo.

If you're going to kill it, kill it. Simazine gets used in the summer so I wouldn't freak out on applying, especially if it's a blanket app.

My vote is simaine + one of the SU class herbicides that's highly effective on poa - revolver, monument, or katana.

Next year - specticle or prodiamine, with simazine + one of those SU herbicides.

Thanks for the help! I have some Katana on the way now!
