@ionicatoms , what selective herbicide would you suggest for killing common broad-leaf weeds on SA? I'm looking for something safe and cheap lol. It's for my neighbor.

"12 floz Atrazine 4% and
11 floz Image Southern Lawn Weed Killer and
An Arbitrary amount of NIS "
Does this mix takes the color or stunt the growth? TIA

@wilsonline Image Southern Lawn Weed Killer is the best starter herbicide. It is readily available at the HD or Lowes. At high rates or on hot days it can ding the grass, but the grass will recover after a couple weeks and the broadleaf weeds will be dead. I got my start spot-spraying this stuff and it is very reliable. I’m convinced all the complaints about it not working are due to lack of patience.

Thanks. I will get that sson and hit those pesky weeds. This guy is across the street. Right after I seeded my lawn in the winter with prg, he hired a company, installed irrigation, and soded his front lawn. I'm not saying it was my influence, but he did talk to me about grass a couple of times lol. So now I will spray his lawn and see if does improve something. I'm curious about how PGR will affect his SA.

PGR on St Aug will darken the color unless you hit it too hard, it can get a bit yellow if you go too heavy. It definitely slows the growth, so I would hit it with a fungicide to give it a little extra protection. I’m planning on 2 cc’s of Pramaxis per k this go-around. St Aug is very sensitive to TNex.

Be aware that newly sodded St Aug is especially prone to GLS. In general I think newly sodded St Aug is a little more sensitive to everything, so I think a light touch on the herbicides may be overall better for the first year, but I do consider insecticide and fungicide to be critical to success.

I already applied tnex/primomaxx. Too late now. But I didn't notice any damage. The color is a bit darker now, but not a huge difference. I didn't apply any fungicide. Only 2 x 5lb/M of 10 10 10, eddha iron (half scoop, I don't know how much to apply), 0.1oz/M primomaxx, bifen xts, Avaunt, and some urea (urea+iron+ pgr).
We don't have many issues with fungus here. But we also don't get much rain. The issue here is drought. And bugs! Well, that I noticed. But I will keep eyes open to that. Thanks.

ok, cc would be cubic centimeters lol so same as ml. Isn't that super low? actually, 0.1 oz is like 3 ml, right? haha yeah, it's all low. And considering his lawn is actually 1.1 k, not 1 and that my Milwaukee sprayer (horrible) always leaves some liquid in the bottom, it was probably closer to 2.5 ml/M. Ok, so I will keep with the lower dose and not going to do the 0.15oz. would once a month be effective?

@wilsonline

Yeah, they are all the same product. Just different size bottles or brand names.

I think once a month at the low dose should be fine. You may not see much of a response after the first dose, but it should be obvious a couple weeks after the second dose. My neighbor has St. Aug so I have a literal side by side comparison to check the effectiveness.

Well damn. I learned today that my rotors are not all the same body size. I went to replace one and ended up having to dig out the whole damn hole because the new rotor is 1/4” larger in diameter than the old one. Keep an eye out for this “gotcha.”
