Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A little background: I moved into a house where the front lawn was irrigated through flood irrigation from ditch water. This would cause erosion and bring in whatever weed seeds were in the water to begin with. The lawn was 20% common Bermuda and 80% weeds. I plan on laying some yukon Bermuda seed when the weather warms up a little bit more. So I hired someone to til the land and rip out as much of the Bermuda as possible. I then installed an irrigation system. AAANNDDDDD I think that catches us up to now....

Currently I have been spraying my 12,000 sqft front yard with good ole 41% glyphosate to kill any remaining weeds and common Bermuda, as it rained and rained and rained approximately 2 weeks prior to this. I have currently done two rounds of spraying and will probably do one more. My question is after all the spraying, and killing (fingers crossed), the remaining weeds/common Bermuda, Do I really need to harley rake the sparse amount of dead foliage or can I just hand rake the soil before seeding? I know I will have to combat weeds anyways, with seeding, I mostly just wanted to kill the common Bermuda with the glyphosate, but now my thinking is that dead organic matter might help the soil and retain moisture while seeding. And yes I am trying to cute corners as well as costs.

I plan on adding milorganite to the top layer of soil immediately before or just when I plan to lay my yukon Bermuda seed. I am definitely new to the lawn world and would appreciate any help and/or advice you could give. Thanks a bunch.

Fresno California! Welcome to the madness. I lived many years in the Bay Area.

Surprised you didn't get a comment or two, so let's see if we can't get this started...

Glyphosate, that's a lot of killin' your doing. If it's not dead yet, it might not go down with another round. I'd say you're going to get some seeds no matter what you do, especially if you get some central valley winds. Obviously, a Pre-em is out for seeding. I'd move on to final ground preparations and deal with what comes up after.

Rake vs. the Harley, I would go with the Harley Rake approach for one reason, it will do a better job or breaking up irregular contours allowing for a better leveling. The one thing you cannot go back and do is grade a new lawn, you can level it, but you cannot fix that dip or that ridge after you seed. Some will say that by disturbing the soil at a deeper level you're actually going to make it more lumpy, but I would argue, if you consistently Harley Rake, amend, grade, and roll and water, water, water (some even fertilize, but that's probably part of the amending step), you will be more happy with it after the lawn grows in. So, I have to stress that you have to get whatever you till to settle. This also might be the opportunity to take these steps, give it two weeks and hit the last round of weeds.

Cheers!

Thanks, I really appreciate the help!

And Madness is an understatement but it's home. lol. The weather has been incredibly temperamental meaning it rained Friday, got as hot as 80 Sunday, and mid 60s today (Monday). I am happy for the rain as it will push up a little more remaining growth. Then I plan to spray again this weekend in the 90 degree heat and really cook those suckers  . Then I will do probably just as you suggested. I really appreciate the suggestions. Checked the sprinklers this weekend and I am pretty happy with the coverage. I keep hearing that it is the most important part to just water water and more water. Do that and the Bermuda will grow. I hope they're right.

Thanks for the help!
