Help picking grass seed mix for my MA Full Sun Lawn

My lawn got totally burned up this summer and large parts died off. I thought it would come out of dormancy but it appears to have fully died off.
In the spring I am going to reseed the full lawn and am trying to decide what type of seed to use.
i am in Massachusetts and the lawn gets full sun.
I’m considering the GCI cool blue mix (TTTF and KBG) and also considering the Lesco team mates plus (TTTF PRG KBG). I am also looking at the LESCO Tuf-Turf Seed Mixture which is TTTF and KBG

Ideally I want TTF due to drought tolerance with KBG for self repair properties.

do you guys have any suggestions?
I would consider JG black beauty but I think it would not blend well with the sections of my lawn that are actually still alive.

Any of those should be fine. KBG is best in full sun, and TTTF is drought tolerant. The Ryegrass in the Lesco or JG is there to add some durability, quick germination, and some more diversity. It shouldn't hurt, but isn't necessary either.

My TTTF got obliterated in full sun, especially with town watering restrictions (MetroWest), so I threw down 365SS KBG in late August and it’s come in really well. I have irrigation but could not water enough to keep the TTTF going through the summer months.

My TTTF in the back yard (Rhizing Moon) thrived because it has lots of shade and never got to the higher temps that my front yard did. I have high hopes for 365SS next summer, but time will tell. I would encourage you to stay away from TTTF if you’re getting full sun in the summer months unless you can throw gobs of water at it each week.

Interesting - I thought tttf was supposed to do better in full sun and drought conditions than kbg does
I haven’t heard of the365SS before.
How old was your lawn? I think any first year lawn will struggle in high temps simply because the roots aren't deep enough yet. If your lawn made it through the last few summers and didn't this year, it might not have been water that killed it.

My mostly Falcon and Barvado TTTF lawn struggled the first summer, but it was green and mad at the ground all summer this year. All I did was some 7-0-0 and K and micronutrient foliar apps (two I think) the whole summer, and it got over 100 regularly....full sun. Watered once a week....but heavily.

One thing that can help your new lawn survive summer heat is doing what golf courses do....use your irrigation for a couple minutes at the hottest part of the day to cool it down. It's like dunking your head in cold water on a really hot day after mowing the lawn, but for the grass.

Another thing is a liquid aeration product to loosen the soil and really help water get down in there. Also helps roots grow in compacted soil. Humic products FTW.

Are you sure the problem was water? Thatch problems, insects/grubs, disease, too much fert.....all of these could be possible culprits.
