Looks great you seemed to have turned the corner on this renovation and heading in the right direction. We had washouts then battling a long heatwave mother nature is finally behaving so the reno is responding nicely

Well on its way.

Almost the same...so you replaced the TTTF with Mazama this time.

Alright, back yard update time.

31 DAS, 25 DAG.

Mowed the entire back yard at 1.5" HOC with the push reel. Some spots I broke the 1/3rd rule, others still aren't getting cut. I didn't mow over any areas with newish germination. The area in the NW corner that I reseeded is sprouting and looks to be 2-3 days after germ. The northeast side of the back yard is definitely the farthest along as far as maturation, it was probably close to 3" in height, and I mowed it 6 days prior to last night's mow.

Also applied my second AMS app to the back yard at 1 lb/M.

Have significant weed pressure on the West half of the back yard. Pulled a bunch as I was mowing. Lots of nutsedge as well.

Going to split the pics up into separate posts. Here are some comparison pics. The first pics are from 22 DAS, 16 DAG.

Next, an area that's being out-competed by clover. Close-up pic shows plenty of KBG mixed in.

Close-up of same area:

Found a patch of this grassy weed that kind of resembles nutsedge, but it's growing low to the ground. @g-man @Green any idea what this is? Want to figure out if it needs to get nuked or if it can wait until my 2nd tenacity app.

Looking for any insight on how things are looking for where I'm at DAG-wise. I think it's doing pretty well, but if any other experienced KBG renovators want to chime in it would be appreciated.

I'm in the of middle my fist KBG renovation I think it's looks great it's moving along nicely. KBG will test our patience to say the least. You have nice even germination even if it's thin that's fine. With cutting and feeding by end of next spring it will look great .

Is that really clover? Might be Oxalis.

With Oxalis (?) and sedges, I'd be looking at doing a (1/2 to full yearly max label rate) Sulfentrazone program next year, potentially, if the new grass can handle it. I did like 6 apps this year to utilize it as a pre-M, adding up to the max yearly rate, applied split up between April and Aug, and had no Sedges or oxalis or crabgrass. Sedges are very tenacious. An app or two at 2 to 4oz per acre rate of Dismiss will not kill them permanently...you need the residual to build up and act as a pre-M and kill the tubers. It will also prevent and kill crabgrass and a bunch of other things, too. It can be combined with Prodiamine and helps prevent resistance (2 different chemical modes of pre-M action that way). It also will likely kill some Triv and annua in the process, and possibly moss.

Maybe Green Kyllinga?? Don't know...I've never seen that species...only False Green.

Check that stuff for a triangular stem. If not, it's not nutsedge or kyllinga, but rush has a hollow round stem.

Or like g-man said, could be a different plant.

But I'm sure you still have plenty of Nutsedge based on what you've said.

Thanks man. It definitely is not for the impatient. Very stressful in the beginning but now not so much. I'm at the point now where "it is what it is" and will just let the KBG do it's thing and fill in.

Thanks @Green and @g-man

Green i think I saw you post a while ago about it being easy to fry grass with sulfentrazone, would I be ok at low rates spread throughout the growing season or is there still some potential for things to go wrong? Also is this a plan to put in place next year or should I start this year?

I have sedgehammer on hand, but was waiting another couple weeks before I attempt to spray it. I'm due for my tenacity app this weekend, but I've since reseeded some areas so I'll have to avoid those when I spray.
