Posted this on Reddit, told I should also post here. I converted my Jacobsen Eclipse 122f from gas to electric. Jacobsen sells a kit for it but I search high and low and couldn't find one. Since the mower was already hybrid I needed to build a battery setup to mimic the real one. Used four lead acid 12v in series, pushing about 52 volts. Mowed my 4k sqf and used about 25% of the battery, 18 MAH. Without the reel going it's whisper quiet, still easy to talk to someone while mowing with the reel engaged. Link here to some pics of the build also here's a picture of the backyard, Tifway 419, kept at .7".

This is exactly what I'm looking to do when/if the stars align on me finding a machine. My question is on endurance - what is the aH rating of the batteries used? I need a pack that can handle 20,000 sq ft, I'd really like one that can do 40k+ (double-cut) which from my understanding is pushing things a bit. I put out some feelers with superintendents on how these units perform in the field, but they are still very rare compared to gas-hybrids and traditional units.

Also, with the used equipment market where it is, I have to watch my costs. It wouldn't be hard to spend $5k+ on a 22-26" unit, groomer, batteries, brackets and wiring, etc. Plus, I'd need a charging solution as charging each 12V battery individually is not attractive.

WTB: Jacobsen Eclipse2 126 with catcher and wheels. Units with a groomer (flippin' unicorn....) will have my undivided attention.

Just saw this almost a year later, my bad. I'm running 4 of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K8V2PF4 18AH batteries. I don't charge the batteries separately, I just use a 48v charger to charge them together, since they are all identical there shouldn't be issues. I have only 4k sqf, with a single cut I can do about 4 mows before my voltage starts dropping too low. The thing is though, you could make this battery however big you want, especially if you could outfit a case that had minimal airspace. You could also have two and swap them out after the first cut, Its a quick connect/disconnect. I converted my McLane to an electric mower as well and started looking at other battery types. If these die on me I'm looking at using a 48v ebike battery like this https://www.amazon.com/Unit-Pack-Power-Ebike-Battery/dp/B081N8TLP4 Lithium batteries don't drop in voltage as they drain and when voltage drops below like 43 volts with the Eclipse 122F the reel sometimes doesn't spin up. If you ever want to pursue it more hit me up and I'll help however I can.

My hang-up is that I really don't want to drop down to a 21/22" machine and finding a 26" unit that's a reasonable unit to convert has been a challenge. I look off and on, more off than on these days due to other spending priorities. One day I'll find "the one".

Where did you get the connector that fits the OEM connector that powers the reels? I am looking at doing the same swap as I am tired of dealing with carburetor issues, not being able to mow in the early hours, and driving 20 min each way to get ethanol free fuel.

I have about 16k sqft so I should be able to get a full cut on a charge - may spring for the 20ah batteries instead (similar looking brands with good reviews on Amazon are not much more expensive).

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Do you have any guides you followed to do this conversion?
