I have a french drain in my back yard that goes to a hill. All of the grass above the pipe is drying out and dying. I understand that the drain is there to help ensure things doing get too wet, but what can I do to ensure that it doesn't dry the grass above it out too much?

What do you mean you use a sprinkler hose to save water? I guess I could dig everything up and then push it a little deeper, but that would be a tremendous pain in the @ss!
Or you could add soil on top.

When mine was put in I wasnt quite happy at how deep they went.

Telling them to go deeper so grass roots have room got the deer in headlights look. Like arguing with a chair.

Make sure distance from top of drain to grass is
in the contract and check before they fill the soil.
Their argument was that they dont go deep cause its easier to put back. Like the chunk of sod. I told em i dont care and ill handle it.

From talking with the contractor. If you tell them you dont care how it looks, after in terms of grass, they prolly give you a better price or comply more to the depth of the drain.

Ive been monitoring mine and havent notice an issue yet. But i did at at least 1" on top.
