Gasoline in the Oil California Trimmer

Can anyone help me? I cannot get my fairly new (4 month old) Cal trimmer (B&S engine) to fire back up. I Started mowing and the engine didn't sound quite right so i shut it down. Now I can't get it to start.

One thing that did seem odd was when i went to check the oil, as soon as i open the dip stick some oil started coming out. I put the recommended amount of oil in when it was shipped to me a few months ago. But this did seem odd. Also noticed a "gas" smell in the garage after using it the other week, without actually filling it up with gas that day. I did not see any leaks under the unit though. And the gas smell went away.

****Aug 6th update. So I drained the oil out today and as I thought, it was mixed with gasoline. Being only 4 months old, I assume I should call the warranty number?

Should I even bother with adding new oil or just call the warranty?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Why **** with it if it wont run? If I have to spend more than 30 minutes on a new piece of equipment, I give it back.
Yes you are correct.

I changed the oil on it and tried to start it again. The pulley system was locked up fairly tight. Finally got a good pull on it and noticed what appears to be gas coming from the exhaust. Just a mess.

Going to call California Trimmer tomorrow about the warranty. I assume I need to call them vs briggs? Purchased the mower through Home Depot.
