I want to buy a pre-mixed cultivar because I only need 25 pounds -- and it will save money. Which one of these options will give me the best overall dark-green genetic color?

Option #1
  • 25% After Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 25% Mazama Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 25% Starr Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 25% Blue Gem Kentucky Bluegrass

Option #2
  • 40% Mazama
  • 40% Moonlight SLT
  • 20% Right
Option #3
  • 20% Starr Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 20% Blue Gem Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 20% Skye Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 20% NuRush Kentucky Bluegrass
  • 20% Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass

Generally if you are buying a premixed bag of seed with multiple cultivars/varieties, the supplier will have chosen varieties that blend well together esthetically. Im not very familiar with all those varieties, but Mazama and Midnight both have a dark green color, so my guess would be all of the varieties blended with it will be of a similar color. Perhaps the most notable differences in the 3 options would be how each of them did in different conditions...fungus, shade, drought, etc.

Where are you planning on getting your seed?
