Not sure if I should post here or flowers...but anyway...
What do you guys use for flower bed weeds? I use Preen and it does not do a good job.
May have to use a weed blocker.

I have never tried any chemical pre-emergent in the gardens. A thick layer of mulch and hand pulling or glyphosate seem to work well for me. My wife let the vegetable garden get overgrown with nutsedge and wild onion. A layer of weed blocker and mulch wiped out 90% of them. The few areas that came back grew through the seams. For a perennial garden, it may make sense since you aren't planting every year. With annual or vegetables, you will need to renew the blocker at some point when there are too many holes from previous plantings.

Used snapshot dg this year and very happy in most sections.

My perineal beds were a different story, they were fairly over run with wierd stuff. Its a full sun area so that promotes a lot of weed growth whereas established areas with my rhododendrons make a good thick canopy so there was minimal growth last year. I did apply gly in a few areas as expected. I don't expect it to be completely weed free.

Both areas did not have mulch.

Next year I will apply it earlier with my lawn preem (maybe even before) and spray prodimaine in the beds as well.

I havent been able to bring myself to spend a few grand on mulch though.
