I haven't posted in a while due to family growing and work. I caught the lawn bug about 3 years ago and did a small renovation on my large yard. Anyways I decided I wanted to get into reel mowing but I didn't like the price of the new and used reel mowers. So I acquired a Fiskers manual reel from a friend who didnt need it anymore because he bought a Swardsman. I also acquired a Ryobi 40v rotary mower from my brother in law who found it in the trash. Well here is the result of what I can come up with. I think it does a decent job. I also made a roller for the back. I am actually contemplating making these electric motor kits to fit on a Fiskers reel. What are you guys opinions? Also with a 6ah battery it will mow for well over an hour. I have done about 10k sqft on one battery and still had life left. This more of a proof of concept so the mounting plate and chain setup need to be revised & the wiring needs to be secured but I just wanted to get some feedback.

Sorry for the shaky video I was mowing one hand and recording in the other.

So the roller is made of 6" pvc drain pipe which is why its black and I took 2 6" wheels from harbor freight and screwed them to the pipe from the outside. So I mow on the second to lowest setting now and it mows at less than an inch. It could still be lowered. However if you decide to put the roller on you have to power the reel another way.

I estimate the reel is spinning somewhere between 1000-1400 rpms. The ryobi motor control has some sort of load sensor built in so when you hit a thicker part of the lawn it actually spins faster.
