some kind of balanced fertilizer like 10-10-10. I used pro peat 11-11-11 after I scalped February 27th. Throw it down when you see your grass coming out of dormancy. I plan to fertilize with Urea the rest of the year, you may find that's the most cost effective as well with that much grass.

 

Soil test to really find out. You're truly just guessing without it.

I used Triple Pro 13-13-13 right at the end of February. I just hit it again a week ago or so. It has really been filling the bare spots in since I did my lawn leveling project.

 

I'm a fan of whatever you can find locally as it will be just as good and be cheaper also. Don't get too caught up in the marketing you see on YouTube just concentrate on the numbers on the bag.

I maintain just under 1ac of irrigated turf. Firstly, buy local (as others have said- that helps with cost!), I put down a 13-13-13 most years right at green up. The rest of the year is ~.5lb/month of AMS anywhere I can get it cheap.
