Anyone on the lawn forum use Aspen Alkylate fuel? Or ethanol free gas? Anyone filter regular gas? I'm wondering which way to go, I do feel when using strimmer/hedge trimmer that I'm breathing in lots of nasty fumes, even with my mower. Could always wait for a windy dry day

I run 100 octane LowLead (100LL) avgas in my gear. It has no ethanol and is only $5.00 /gallon rather than
$15 like the prepacks, ie VIP. You aren't buying a can each time you refuel. It does have a little bit of tetraethyl lead in it but that won't hurt you if you aren't a kid and don't sit inhaling the exhaust nor use it indoors.
I have not been able to find a gas station pumping ethanol free anywhere near st. louis. The airport I buy at is two miles from my house.

The recommendation for no EtOH is probably because of the diaphram pumps and rubbers in the carb, not so much emissions since EtOH itself burns clean. At higher CR it can cause detonation. Main this is over time it makes the pumps (gaskets) very brittle.

EtOH also has a high affinity towards water so if you plan on storing in a humid climate This is another driving force.

If fumes is your concern then changing your premix oil will have a great effect or run a hotter plug. Being 2 stroke there will always be a scent, so might as well choose an enjoyable one :)
