Emerald Green Arborvitae Help Needed

Hi All,

10 days ago I had 7 Emerald Green Arborvitae planted in a row around 3 foot apart from each other. I lined them with a soaker hose and was running it for around 4 hours a day. I was
told I was severely over watering them and am worried they are not looking as healthy as when they were planted. They appear droopy to me and have a few brown spots and the feel seems almost crispy. It has been very hot lately in Maryland here and we have not had any rain for a few weeks.

I have not watered them at all since yesterday morning when I was told I was over watering. I am hoping to get some help to get these trees thriving. Any thoughts are appreciated. The only
thing I have done besides watering is spraying with Bifen IT for a pesticide application. The last picture is the day they were planted and the other ones are from today.

Thank you!
Adam

Thank you for the quick reply! I will definitely move the mulch farther away from the base, I think you are right it is too close the trunk.

As far as the root ball exposure, I can check that as well. The company who sold them to me also planted and I did not remember to check that it was an inch above before I put the mulch down. If not should I remove some of the dirt to expose it now?

I am going to keep drying them out, my soil meter was reading still in the Moist to Wet side about 6 inches into the soil at base of trees.
Thank you,
Adam
