I think they're the seed heads of the KBG that have faded. I'm now finding something similar in the lawn here. In Poa annua, the seeds and bracts (lemma, palea and finally glumes) fall off relatively quickly so that the panicle is incomplete:
To be sure, you could count the lateral branches coming off a point on the panicle axis. If there are more than two anywhere, it is not Poa annua. The seed head on the right looks like three at the bottom.
