Alrighty, some changes this year. I need to push the lawn with N, level out the “landscaping” to remove the garden, dethatch and order the POA. So it’s a full season of crazy.

I’ll see if my schedule permits any of it.

I let the lawn wake up real gradual, then I detached it and started throwing down N - with some patches. The POA is more pervasive than I expected so I’ll gly it later in the year and do an overseed.

During the dethatch, I like an idiot, wiped out a patch that was taking root and filling in. Damn.

May 30: some pictures. I did some spraying with an old mix and whatever I had left of glyphosate. Snuck a mow in just before leaving to finger lakes for the weekend.

My ants are coming back but I’ve got a spray for them so I’ll use that. I poured boiling water on them in desperation and that wiped out the grass. So far, absolutely zero products in Canada deal with the issue and it is incredibly disruptive/destructive and unsightly.

You can see how much work I have to level out the graveyard the landscaping company left. The grass isn’t doing well because the water pools and hypoxia attacks.

I should get more pictures.

Residual molasses and another application if Hydretain. I’ve been throwing tons of water out there to see if I can recover the area near the front tree but it doesn’t look good. It’s either bugs or salt melt out that didn’t recover (???). My lawn is the best out there in the neighborhood but it’s still taking a beating from the heat.

Returned home from the cottage where we had another streak of very hot weather of ~30C with very hot evenings as well ~23C. So I’m getting in as much water as I can before we leave again for SCCA Champ Tour

July 27:
Threw down a pound and a half of Urea, since my N has been lower than I need to PUSH the lawn and encourage maximum lateral growth by that’s okay as I’ve been working 100hrs/week this summer. Almost forgot, I sprayed some dish soap on the lawn before dumping water down. Naturally though, my sprinkler decided to break so I’ve got a gardenia on the way while I use an old equally broken Melnor sprinkler.

Threw down a pound and a quarter of Urea, but Mother Nature continues to burn and destroy my lawn. I did what a could with back to back out of town events but she’s scorched. There’s an area of yellow forming but I have no identification as to the cause.

Threw down a pound and a quarter of Urea. There’s some recovery but we need temperatures to drop before any progress is really made. I’ll finally be able to spray tomorrow since temperatures will be lower than 80F.

I also applied more Hydretain.

Threw down a pound and a quarter of Urea. Well…. We’ve had a killer drought to end the year and I was putting 100hr weeks in at work so it is rough.

I still need to do at least one phase of sand leveling before the winter or I’m going to be in for another round of die off from fungus.
