Does anyone have a Creeping Bentgrass lawn, how do you like it,is it hard to take care of it?I live in Michigan and was thinking of doing a test plot of creeping bent, My front and back yards are KBG I like to get the look of a golf green in my back yard.I do have a reel mower and I am at 1" but plan on going lower. Thanks

I do- remnants from the past that I've been trying to control for the three seasons I've been at this house. Supposedly it was an old fashioned option for dense shade. Mine is mainly under two large trees. At someone's recommendation, I tried Tenacity for the first time this year to control it- and it has worked great in only one application.

So with that, use whatever grass you'd like, but if you want to control it from creeping, use Tenacity.

Be prepared to spend lots of time and money and resources.

Edit: also be prepared to have bent grass everywhere you don't want it also.
Thank you for your reply and any one who chimes in. I have been working on my backyard the last four years putting in new gardens and it is started to look nice.I like to get the lawn to look nice to but not sure what type of grass to use?I would like to get it to look like a golf green, any suggestions of what type of grass to use? Thanks

I imagine the vast majority of greens in michigan are bent, poa or a combination of both. Creeping bentgrass just needs so many inputs, especially to be mowed at greens height. I just dont think anyone who doesn't already know what it would take understands the commitment it requires to maintain it. Rye and fine fescue are also options that can be mowed at heights approaching those of putting greens. But doing it for looks alone? Do you hate having money in your pockets?

I'm more of the mow high and thick kinda guy, but I'd check out the lawns of any cool season people that post on any of the reel mower threads. Some have great looking lawns that I can only wish I had the time or energy to maintain. Thumbs up to anyone who can pull it off.
