Does anyone here have or maintain carpetgrass? It's in my backyard and I've decided I want to try to work with it rather than do a renovation. I don't have the time or money right now, especially after doing a renovation of my front yard with GCI TTTF.
I have to invest in a better spreader.

I've read that carpetgrass is not very receptive to a lot herbicides, and the ones that it likes just delay it's growth. My local extension has a carpetgrass care calendar, but it's very vague when it comes to weed control and it mentions that a lot of herbicides may damage it.

Looking for tips and tricks going into the winter, and things I can do this spring to suppress the weeds and encourage the carpetgrass growth.

Some grass is better than none. This might help

Based on your link and this link, I'm just gonna assume that either prodiamine or dithiopyr are safe to control weeds in carpetgrass. My plan right now is to do split apps beginning in the spring at a half rate to see how it does. Hopefully the carpetgrass does well enough and spreads at a decent rate. If not, then I'll think about another renovation or just an overseed in the fall and work from there.

I used to have carpetgrass, but switched out for bermuda. Some of the weeds I treated also "treated" the carpetgrass into dead spots. Also, I have a large patch of zoysia that I was running into the same issues with. Now it's much simpler.
I've had Bermuda before and loved it. I just don't have the money to start over. Maybe the wild Bermuda in the carpetgrass will take over eventually.
