Just put down 8 gallons of tenacity on the back yard think I got 80% of the bentgrass sprayed. Will be interesting to see what the grass looks like in a week lol. I will take some pictures. I’ll probably spray tenacity again after aeration in few weeks but don’t want to go crazy cause it’s too late to put Kentucky bluegrass seed down.

You may want to get some PRG to seed that area. Your current KBG isn't going to just fill in large areas of dead bentgrass. One app of Tenacity won't kill all, but it will some. The second app even more. Just not sure if you are ok with dead/whitened grass until next fall.

My reno was definitely a learning process. When you kill that bentgrass, it doesn't just disappear. It lays matted down on top of your soil. Without some decent raking to get rid of it, you won't get many seeds to get good soil contact needed for germination. Good luck.

Yeah I figured it would need raked out. I’ll see what this one application of tenacity does. Like I said I’d rather wait until next year so I may not put anymore down. Just wanted to stop it from spreading so I can get ahead of it somewhat

Just trying to figure out what I should do going forward. I really only want kbg. I was gna aerate the first weekend of September then do another tenacity treatment. Would it still be too late to seed with kbg at this point. I was even thinking of not putting another treatment for tenacity down until next year then planting kbg sometime next august.

I think the bent grass is pretty much throughout my whole back yard. Probably wait until next year this will be a huge project.
I was/am in a similar boat this year. The sheer amount of dead plant material associated with the bentgrass blew my mind; I had to do something like 3 rounds of Mow -> Dethatch.

What was your application rate for the Tenacity you put down? For future reference you can do lower-rate apps about 1wk apart for good control, but I'm with g-man on your situation: there's so much of it that you need to Gly it.

Unsure if it would ultimately be a waste of time, but maybe you could Gly a decent section to reseed this year, and keep up with Tenacity surrounding that area until cold temps hit?

I did the normal application rate can’t remember the exact numbers.

Thanks for the response. I think that would be prudent to apply roundup to at least a portion of it. Maybe the worse section than reseed. I’ll look at it better today and come up with a plan. I’ll have to do it soon if I want to use KBG.
