Bentgrass killing spree

Howdy

I have determined I have bentgrass spreading quite rapidly and identified how to kill it, however I want to get some help on planning my approach.

I want to spray my lawn with tenacity, wait two weeks and spray second treatment. By this time it'll be towards the end of August, I will then dethatch and seed and overseed my whole lawn.

Any changes / thoughts ?

So, just some advice. I would add triclopyr to the mix. It will minimize bleaching effects of Tenacity(for the good grass). This is what the Sublime herbicide does. Just a thought. Tenacity bleaching stinks! double check the Sublime herbicide label. It also treats bentgrass due to tenacity in the mix. I think their whole sales strategy is around the minimized bleaching too.

So I thatched yesterday as I could tell the bent was dying and well it's prepping to overseed.

Boy oh boy did I get a lot of thatch. Anyways afterwards I mowed and then used my blower to get any remainders and it legitimately blew tuffs of bent sky high. I am going to apply tenacity again today.

Similar scenario with me. Had a few spots of bentgrass pop up and I hit them with a light spray of Tenacity. Went maybe a foot outside the circle of bentgrass too. Two shots about two weeks apart and it browned up and died out. The KBG filled in nicely. Did this all during 80-90 degree heat. Surrounding KBG didn't bleach out since my mix wasn't overly potent and I didn't spray heavy.

Congrats on getting rid of that crap! I have been battling for years. Just joined because I was looking for info on Tenacity and bent grass. I live on a golf course and many yards have been taken over by bent. I noticed a little few years and found about tenacity. After I spray it, it turns white, dies, I rake it out, then it grows right back. Cant get any other grass to take it over. Its mostly in a shaded area. But, now I noticed it doesnt look like the bent grass from the fairways and other yards. The stem looks the same, but the grass is tall and thin. Can anyone tell me if this is bent and if not, what it is and why tenacity kills it? Im not sure if I should keep trying to kill it or not?

Friday was a huge step forwards, I lowered my HOC to 2" from 3" and dethatched again in preparation of leveling and seeding. After thatching I was able to see the top soil in most locations so felt ready it was time to seed.

Saturday I leveled the ruts from my mower and sink holes from when I installed my sprinkler system. It was actually a lot easier then I thought, and will be doing this every year.

After leveling I applied seed to the completely dead areas by hand before dropping 4lbs of seed by spreader. I applied a nice peat moss top dressing and watered for 10 mins to get everything nice and wet.

I will be watering 3 times a day for roughly 4 mins each time.
