Ok I did .5 lbs per 1k. I'll give it a few days and see if I need to bump it up to 1lbs. It's a little different spreading the sprayable prills. They're almost the consistency of salt.

Never really thought of a target. What's the most I could apply per 1K without burning? So do I need to start at lower doses and work my way up?

 

If you are following the Fall N blitz, then you can apply 0.25lb N per week or 0.5lb N bi-weekly.

As far as I know, AS has a lower salt index than Urea, so burning shouldn't really be an issue with proper care and irrigation.

 

AMS actually has a higher salt index than urea but @Harts is right there's a fairly low chance of burning when using low rates.

On a pound for pound basis, Ammonium Sulphate has a slightly lower salt index than Urea, but when you factor in that Urea has 2X the N per unit mass, and hence 2X the AMS needs to be applied to achieve the same N rate, then the effective salt index relative to applied N is lower for Urea.
