Just thought I would start the year off right and create this thread for everyone to post in. Probably a few months away from actually getting any meaningful posts in here except for our member from Down Under :)

I aerated a portion of my lawn in the backyard that seems to always struggle, it was also the first portion of the lawn that went dormant. Since this is a new build I am guessing this section has some soil compaction issues. After aerating with my lawn pecker I then used 2 bags of Texas Pure Product Ultra Compost to back fill the holes to help amend this area. Hoping this year this area no longer struggles.

I'm in the same situation with the leaves and constant raking and mowing to get them up off the lawn and surrounding areas. Yard responded well to all the lime to raise the PH after last years soil test...hoping to get everything filled in and cut low and use PGR to help in the shady areas...if no improvement this year I am looking into some more aggressive tree trimming and possibly some SPF-30 seed.

After 3 years of trial and error I think Im finally getting this warm season stuff down.

Sent some soil samples off for analysis by the extension. Also slowly getting in supplies. This should be a pretty interesting experience, provided I don't turn myself into a Smurf with the marker dye.

I remember transitioning to spraying my lawn a couple years ago. After using marker dye twice for separate broadcast apps, haven’t used it since. There’s a reason that:). I did think it was useful though at the time, mainly to get adjusted to using a battery power sprayer.

I’ve been fighting the oak leaves and acorn battle for months and it’s just about over. Will likely spray a split app of prodiamine/Simazine around the first of February which is coming up quick

Rainy day here in Upstate SC. In late December I do a soil test and start making tweaks to the lawn plan for the upcoming year. Take inventory on supplies and make sure I’ve got what I need to start the season here in Mid-February. Just a few short weeks away 😀

In the last week I have applied 300 lbs of Calcitic Lime to my lawn per my Waypoint soil test. Starting to get antsy about getting back in the lawn but I know it won't be long before that time is here. I'll probably be scalping here in another month or so.

Same thoughts. Getting my soil samples out shortly, and started to think that we aren’t too far off from starting to scalp and clean up here in a bit. I want to do some mowing clean up, figure I’ll drop the height down a few tenths and take a little off at a time before the big scalp.

Then shortly after we will all be begging for the growth to slow!!😂

I mixed up some roundup and spot sprayed some of the worst clover and poa patches. Its Bermuda, itll be fine. Also removed some massive ginger plants thats were finally going brown. Sure smells nice though! And filled in some holes and low spots.

Have springtails invading the pool so sprayed a mix of Bifen, Acephate, and imidachloprid to try to kill them.

Thinking ahead looking at my soil test. Found a farm supply store with the following 50lbs bags of fertilizer listed below. Highest price on a bag is $32. Looks like I’ll be driving to this store.

46-0-0, 13-13-13, 0-0-62, 20-10-10 & 6-24-24.

Not much, just cleaning up some bagworm casings in my trees, spraying them with Triazicide and hand pulling the few weeds that I have sporadically in my yard. Also, im laughing at all the supposed "Bermuda Lawn Dominators" on Facebook telling everyone in North Texas to put down Pre Emergent ASAP because we are going to have a week of above normal temps before it gets back down into the 40s during the day. Ill admit there are a handful of legit folks on there but mostly its people with average lawns giving very questionable advice. I prefer this group for actual suggestions.

What temperature on average should we be putting down pre-emergent?
I put down mine a couple of weeks ago.
Atlanta averages 43 degrees in Jan and 46 in February. (Just last week there was a day where the low temperature only made it to 60)

I am applying my first of 2 applications of pre-emergent this weekend. I did this method in the fall and have had zero weeds this winter. Hoping for the same results in the summer. POA was really bad in my yard last year (new yard with no pre emergent) so hoping this takes care of it. I now have both Certainty and Celcius if I do end up getting anything.

mowed with the new Falk and the Hudson. Getting use to the Falk. It came with the blade a little too close to the bed knife so it was hard to push. Loosen it up a tad and now it's easier to push. It's still a little heaver than the Hudson though.

15mm cut on the Falk. Not sure what height the Hudson is. I tried using a tape measurer but it was difficult to measure the cut height.

@Warm&Cool_Lawn Yes, good idea especially on the thick stuff. I won’t do it in my backyard this year because it’s not too bad. The zoysia is super thick. It’s really good to thin it out a bit to make the scalp a little easier. I have also used a SunJoe and they do a good job as well. I use the fixed blades on the SunJoe. The Classen is nice because it’s wider and I don’t have to manage a cord.

Thanks for the response! I need to do it my lawn this year. Can’t say I like the width of the Sunjoe or having to use a cord. But, it was cheap & seem to hear good things about them. What setting do you recommend using the scarifier on before scalping?
