Hate joining a forum and starting off with a question but...

Zoysia lawn in S.C. - in the back yard I am starting to see these small piles of dirt or something. Up close they are little balls stocked on top. When I rake them up there is a half dollar dead spot and the ground is somewhat compacted.

Lawn has been good this year (weed/fungus standpoint). Follow the Carolina Fresh farms program for the most part with healthy doses of milorganite throughout the year.

Had some sevin dust granules so I put some down yesterday along with the normal fungicide treatment.

Yeah, looks like worm castings to me. The are unsightly, but worm activity is generally thought of as good for the soil/turf.
