Isn't one of the advantages of fine fescue that you can leave it unmowed and it will lie down rather than stand up?

I kind of like the laid down look of unmowed fine fescue. The trouble is that in reality, other grass species will stick up through it unless you have a true shady patch.

 

When you just get home from the hospital with your first child, and the first thing you do is mow the lawn and put down fertilizer... I just did that today...
