No. U will need to use non-selective herbicide to kill off the existing PRG. U could also overseed with KBG, then spray out the PRG a year later.

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if/when I overseed my rye lawn with KBG (Bewitched, Midnight or Mazama) will the KBG eventually outgrow the rye grass and dominating the lawn.
Or should I you a more aggressive variety of ***.

Look forward to the suggestions and experiences of member who have done this.

Yes thats the goal. I think first it should be a mix so I can see which varieties doing well over here. With that knowledge I wil tr a mono stand.

 

MSM is the only herbicide I am aware of that will remove PRG from a KBG / PRG lawn. Use with care.

Kill a small (half meter by half a meter) area and try the kbg. But overseeding kbg into pgr is hard.

 

In my experience, you overseed KBG with PRG, not the other way around. The cultivars (at least two) you listed are low grow KBG. I am just trying to imagine how you will have 4 weeks window for the new seeds to compete for sun with PRG in place...
