Happy Thanksgiving Everyone,
I was out in my yard a few days ago and noticed some strong whitening of the grass blades. I would be surprised if it is associated with any pre-emergent applications (sprayed end of August). The only other thing I've put down in Aug/October is heavy applications of Nitrogen but nothing beyond the guidance.
I've attached some photos below. The white portion doesn't scratch off so it is not a residue. I should note, that I've seen this whitening appear before at other times of the year but it is not common and usually doesn't last long.
Typical background:
- location: Michigan
- Issue Appeared: When temperatures started to reach ~40F (though I've seen whitening like this during other time of year)
- Grass: Mixture of KBG, Rye, Red Fescue
- Location: Throughout whole yard with no noticeable patching or variation
