When/how does everyone apply their synthetic N apps (granular)? This may seem like a silly question, but it really bugs me. I assume the following to be correct:

1. Applying synthetic N to wet grass will cause it to "burn."
2. It's not wise to water in the evening as that will just add to the amount of time moisture is on the leaf blade.

If I apply in morning, I will be applying to wet grass (dew).

If I apply in evening and water the following morning, won't the dew forming cause it to burn?

If I apply in evening and water in immediately, I'd be watering in the evening.

Am I way overthinking this and/or unnecessarily concerned about burning the grass with fertilizer and/or frankly just don't have a clue?

I think you're overthinking it. :)

I've thrown down synthetics (10-10-10 & 46-0-0) at all times of the day. With and without dew. I've only had fertilizer burn once, and that's when I accidentally dumped about 2-3 cups of 10-10-10 in one spot.

The easy way is to not overthink it and just cut the bag rate in half, apply that one week and then apply the rest a week or so later (think: small amounts applied more often). You can do that at any time and any heat. Also getting a fert that is at least half slow release will do you a favor as well not only for the burning aspect but for long-term growth and stability.

And then of course you could apply Milo every day at high noon and watch it grow.

We need to have the first tee open by 7:30 and ready for play. We'll start at roughly 6:45 and finish somewhere in the 9:30 range. We also do afternoon applications when necessary.
I assume you all are spraying your fertilizer? I should consider dissolving my urea and spraying but it's so easy to dump it in my Lesco spreader, sling it and be finished in 2 minutes.

Two years ago, I also had access to greens grade Milorganite but my local SiteOne stop carrying that in favor of the much less expensive (freight-wise) HouActonite, which I do not like at all. I loved that greens grade Milorganite in the 50 lb. bags.

We do about 5-6# N/k a year in granular form. We save the foliar applications for the cooler months (though we do make some foliar apps in the summer/spring). In your case I would spread it with a spreader before I used it in a foliar application.
