Some herbicides like Tenacity specifically recommend the usage of surfactant on the label. Most herbicides don't mention this at all. Does this mean they contain a surfactant, or are they just not mentioning it for simplicity? Should I be including a surfactant in foliar apps of everything that doesn't mention one to be safe? The stuff is relatively cheap and my yard isn't that big, so that's ok with me.

Basically anything foliar. I use it all the time, even if the product says it has some. My mentality is "if a little is good, more is better".

Be aware that there are different kinds of surfactants. Most things call for NIS (Non-ionic Surfactant), but a some things call for MSO (Methylated Seed Oil), like Quinclorac.
